ChatGPT image codes: the 5 I tested + 100 prompts

The 5 codes, as prompts that work

Each code written out as a full prompt. I ran all five on the same photo and every one came out right on the first try.

Left is the photo I uploaded, right is what this prompt gave me. Click a picture to see it bigger.

  1. 1

    Ghost walk (/ghostwalk)

The code asked me what I wanted before it did anything. This prompt got the trail behind me on the first try.

Edit this photo. Keep the person, his face, outfit and pose exactly the same, and keep the street background. Add a ghost-walk effect: four faded, slightly motion-blurred copies of him trailing behind him in a line, each one more see-through than the last. Photorealistic. Vertical 2:3.
  2. 2

    Anime (/anime)

The code worked too, but changed my face a little. This prompt keeps the face shape, the outfit and the street.

Turn this photo into a modern anime film still. Same person, same face shape, hair, outfit and pose, same street and buildings, same framing. Clean line art, soft cel shading, warm afternoon light, detailed background. Vertical 2:3.
  3. 3

    Worm's-eye (/wormseyewide)

The code worked first try. The prompt gives the same shot with the face and shoes kept the same.

Recreate this photo as a worm's-eye shot from ground level with an ultra-wide fisheye lens: the person walking toward the camera, one sneaker big in the foreground, the buildings curving up into a blue sky with clouds. Keep his face, outfit and shoes exactly the same. Photorealistic. Vertical 2:3.
  4. 4

    Paparazzi (/paparazzieditorial)

The code gave me a collage of six photos. This prompt gives the single shot from the reel.

Edit this photo into ONE single paparazzi editorial shot (not a collage). Keep the same person, face, outfit and pose exactly. Add blurred photographers and big camera lenses in the foreground on both sides, a couple of camera flash bursts, warm golden-hour light, shallow depth of field. Vertical 2:3.
  5. 5

    Fire fade (/firefade)

The code burned me into embers on try 1 and gave a sunset on try 2. This prompt only changes the light.

Keep this photo and the person exactly the same (face, outfit, pose, framing). Only change the light: make it a fiery orange sunset glow, a dramatic orange-red sky, warm orange light on the street, and a soft orange fire-like fade/vignette at the edges of the frame. Cinematic colour grade. Vertical 2:3.

Tested on ChatGPT Plus, a new chat for each prompt, same stock photo every time.

The codes, checked

Not true

“ChatGPT has secret image codes.”

There are no hidden commands. ChatGPT reads the word after the slash as a very short prompt and guesses. When I typed /ghostwalk, it asked me what I wanted it to do.

True

“/wormseyewide gives you a worm's-eye shot.”

First try: fisheye lens, low angle, my shoe big in front. It added a blue sky too.

True

“/anime turns your photo into anime.”

First try. The face and the print on the sweatshirt changed a little.

Partly true

“/ghostwalk adds a ghost trail behind you.”

Try 1 asked me a question and only worked after I said yes. Try 2 worked straight away, but put the copies on both sides. The full prompt got it right.

Partly true

“/paparazzieditorial gives you a paparazzi shot.”

I got a collage of six photos, not the single shot from the reel. The full prompt fixed it.

Partly true

“/firefade gives you a fiery glow.”

Try 1 burned me into embers. Try 2, same code, gave the sunset glow. Same code, two completely different results.

100 more prompts to copy

Written the same way as the five above. I ran the four marked Tested on my test photo. I haven't run every one of the rest, so if one comes out wrong, run it again or fix one thing in the same chat.

  1. Open a new chat in ChatGPT and upload one clear photo of yourself.
  2. Copy one of the five prompts above and send it with the photo.
  3. Fix one thing at a time in the same chat if it’s close but not right.
  4. Then work through the 100. Keep the ones that suit your photos and save them in a note.

Why the codes are hit and miss

There are no secret codes in ChatGPT. When you type “/firefade”, it sees one made-up word and guesses what you mean. That’s why the same code gave me embers on one try and a sunset on the next.

A full prompt says exactly what to change and what to keep. That’s the whole difference between a code and a prompt. In my test, all five prompts worked on the first try.

Credits

The five codes come from a viral reel by @mavgpt. My test photo is by Wassim Chouak on Unsplash.

Straight answers

Which ChatGPT plan did you use?

ChatGPT Plus. I haven't tested these on the free plan.

Will it keep my face?

Mostly. In my test, /anime and /wormseyewide changed the face a little. Every prompt here asks ChatGPT to keep the face the same, and it helps to use a clear photo where your face is easy to see.

Why did the same code give me something different?

Because it's guessing from one word. A full prompt says what to change and what to keep, so you get the same kind of result far more often. If the first one is off, run it again.

Can I get 9:16 for Reels?

The prompts ask for 2:3, which is what ChatGPT gave me (1024 × 1536). I crop to 9:16 in the editor.

Do these work in Gemini or other apps?

I only tested ChatGPT. They're plain English, so you can paste them anywhere, but I can't promise the results.
